With a big crowd in attendance to cheer the Goldies onto the field, the team started very strongly, not only holding the Bush Pigs at bay, but going in for the first try.
This first push over try was set up off a line out about 15 metres from the Jindabyne try line, with the big Goldies forwards completely overpowering their opposition.
Jindabyne snuck back into the game after some scrappy play and cheap penalties, however by the half time break the game remained nail bitingly close!
The second half saw some line ball decisions by ground officials, with the Goldies incurring two yellow and one red card. This resulted in only 12 men in gold being on the field at one particular stage of the half.
Not withstanding the mounting difficulties, Boorowa showed true grit to go in for another two tries.
The first of which was scored by the Kiwi off some strong play in the forwards and a quick ball from his brother-in-law.
The second try, and undoubtably the most spectacular of the entire match, was scored by Ryan Simpson after a lightning quick 80-metre sprint to score untouched under the posts to a standing ovation.
The final whistle was blown as the scoreboard showed Boorowa 17 - Jindabyne 24. It was a gutsy game of football which demonstrated how the Goldies work tirelessly together, even under the toughest of conditions.
A special mention has to go to Mat Batt who was awarded three points after the game and was widely heralded by the crowd as best on field. George Evans was awarded two points post match and also had the support of his fellow Goldies, as he was awarded Player's Player.
A very honourable mention needs also to go to both Damo Harton and Trent ‘Digger’ Crawford who split one point between them, and both deserve big praise after very strong performances.
The Goldies have a well earned bye next weekend (August 2), but will take the paddock for a final home game on Saturday August 9 - be there to enjoy the action!
