Chairperson of Boorowa Community Bank, Sue Corcoran, told a packed-out audience at Finn's Store in Canowindra last Thursday night how Boorowa's community bank was established and how it has grown in the years since. Ms Corcoran said the community bank injected at least $200, 000 for community last year and she hears good stories about the bank every single day.

"To start with, it's a bit of a risky investment but you don't do it for that, you do it because you love your town," Ms Corcoran said.

"There's no guarantee you'll make a profit in the short term but in 12 years time it'll be worth something."

Canowindra Community Bank chairperson Cheryl Newsom told the meeting pledges for Canowindra's community bank so far total $530, 000 - over three-quarters of their $750, 000 target.

The town has been trying to raise capital for the bank for almost a year.
