Men’s Den Secretary, David Evan, has helped organise a few health seminars at the shed.
“Today, I think the most interesting think I learnt was that Parkinson’s is different for everyone,” he said.
Kate Warren from the Murrumbidgee Local Heath Service will set up a bi-monthly support group for people with Parkinson’s in Boorowa.
“It will give these people a support network and help them deal with their diagnosis among others who have been through the same thing, she said.
Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder typically presenting with symptoms such as slowness of movement, muscle rigidity, instability and tremor. It was named after an English doctor, James Parkinson, who first described cases of a "shaking palsy" in 1817. Four decades later Jean-Martin Charcot added rigidity to Parkinson's excellent clinical description and attached the name Parkinson's disease to the syndrome.
