Careers 4 All is designed to introduce the concept of looking at what opportunities are available to primary and infant school children.
The second event to be held, Careers 4 All has been run every two years and includes opportunities for the students of Boorowa Central School and partner schools, Murringo Public School, Rye Park Public School and Rugby Public School to visit stalls offering different career opportunities.
The University of Canberra, GTESS, Master Builders Association, Charles Sturt University, Valmar Support Services AND Des Clarke Automotive are amongst those who shared their knowledge and experience with the students. Boorowa Council also had an excellent display for the students.
The Boorowa Fire Brigade display proved to be a crowd favourite, while Boorowa High School students ran sessions about specific careers they researched.
Parent Information sessions were held on the day with University of Canberra, Anja Livingston from Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) and Amanda Hinde Senior Pathways Unit Department of Education providing parents with valuable information to help guide their children.
The VET teachers also ran hands-on sessions for all students, who enjoyed making key ring holders, dog tags and watched a shearing demonstration.
Shearing was performed by Brad Wales who was the winner of the BBA Wool Harvesting Scholarship for 2013.
Brad attended TAFE Western Dubbo Shearing and Wool Harvesting Course in January 2014 and was successful in passing the course, providing a great example to the students of what can be achieved in the region.
Alex McClung also participated in the shearing demonstration, having passed the Shearing and Wool Harvesting Course with Mr Wales.
Boorowa Central School would like to thank all staff, our P&C volunteers, and our students for the huge support in the running of our Careers 4 All Day.
The day was a great success and we hope that students and parents who attended gained a great deal of information as well as some inspiration in the choosing of careers later in life.
