Organising the reunion is Merilyn, a descendent of William Armstrong and Mary Armstrong (NEE Edgerton), who came to Australia in September 1839 on the ship the Royal Admiral. William and Samuel were brothers and the sons of John and Francis Armstrong in Clones, Fermanagh county, Ireland.
“A lot of Armstrong’s settled around the Boorowa area,” Merilyn said.
“There’s a surprising number of descendents, including Kerry, the current minister of the church where we’re having the reunion. We’re expecting about 100 guests but even if we get 30 or 50, we’ll be happy. If we get more than that, then we’ll all be spilling out into the church yard!”
Myrtle from Northern Ireland is a descendent of Samuel Wayne Wright Armstrong, and is coming to Australia this month to attend the reunion and meet other Armstrong descendents.
All are welcome to the no alcohol, bring your own lunch gathering.
