They bring new qualifications across a diverse range of career areas including aged care, business, children's services, information technology, horticulture, wool classing and skills for work and training.
"A TAFE NSW qualification is a passport to your chosen career and is widely recognised by employers locally, nationally and internationally," said Diane Murray, TAFE Illawarra Institute Director.
The graduating students are now equipped to join the workforce and boost the local economy. Some plan to forge new careers while others will use their updated skills and business insights to enhance their current positions.
"Other students will actually stay on with us at TAFE,"Mrs Murray said.
"Many are on a learning journey to move onto a more advanced TAFE course or continue their pathway to university."
One hundred and sixty friends and family were there to celebrate. Councillor Michael McManus, Yass Valley Deputy Mayor and Diane Murray, TAFE Illawarra Institute Director personally recognised the students' outstanding efforts. Louise Pinson, Deputy Principal of Yass High School and Gaye McManus, Principal of Mount Carmel, also attended.
Over the 2013 academic year, TAFE's Yass Campus offered courses to 250 students.
Twelve students from the Boorowa area were rewarded on the night for completing the Certificate III in Wool Clip Preparation and Certificate IV in Wool Classing.
With more than 800 courses to choose from in 2014, TAFE Illawarra Institute is opening its doors to provide wide-ranging advice for Illawarra residents wanting to kick-start their careers this year.
Information Evenings are being held at TAFE's Yass Campus on Thursday 23 January between 4pm and 7pm to help people discover which local courses and career pathways are right for them.
