Swimmers travelled from as far a field as Tumut, Temora and Quandialla to take part in the carnival which was a huge success thanks to the great support received from Swim Club families and the wider Boorowa community.

Once again our club received many favourable comments about our beautiful pool, great catering and well organised event.

Many of our younger swimmers were taking part in their first carnival outside school and six and seven year olds who swam included Jai Allison, Jack Baddock, Sam Corkhill, Will Fahey, Claire Howlett, Marlie McIntosh and Tennyson Neville. Charlie Baddock and Amelia Hewitt swam in all the 25m events while eight year old Grace Corkhill swam two great 50m races.

For the more experienced

swimmers the carnival was the opportunity to compete against the best swimmers from the South West Zone in 50, 100 and 200m events. A highlight of the day was Austin Power taking first place and a gold medal in the 100m freestyle event for 9-10 boys.

Both Genevieve Carmody and Mick Hinds won bronze medals for the same event in their age groups.

Alex Blomfield, Ben Davis, Rebecca Luxford and Payten Power narrowly missed out on medals, swimming in to fourth place in their championship events.

Some excellent times were recorded by Lleyton Allison, Max Gay, Adam Hinds, Jack Hinds, Patrick Johnson, Chandler Power, Brock Ritchie, Jack Fahey and Jonathon Davis but Paddy Fahey had a disappointing day when he suffered an ankle injury before the carnival started and was unable to swim.

Among the older girls Tiarna Allison, Jade Blomfield, Maryanne Carmody, Lily Corkhill, Olivia Gay, Helen Johnson, Meg McIntosh and Rebecca Driscoll all swam strongly with many personal best times being achieved on the day.

The Boorowa Swim Club would like to thank local businesses for their support of the carnival through donations of raffle prizes and all those who helped with the organisation and running of the carnival.
