While the opening of any new business in a small community is a wonderful thing, the bakery is a fine testament to the vision and talent of our locals who have worked tirelessly to finalise the project.
Owners Andrew Mitchell and Grant Pearce have been delighted by the enthusiasm and craftsmanship shown by the teams that worked on the bakery.
“There is a great amount of talent in our area,” said Andrew. “We have done everything using local trades people and it shows what we can achieve in our own area.”
“We can’t thank them enough for putting in the extra effort and expertise to make this happen,” he said.
Alan Banks and his crew of builders have done a great job of the structural work, with Corkhill’s Engineering producing and installing all the stainless steel benches and support posts. Marty Corkhill, working with Adam Dewar and the team from Stonehaven has handmade all the timber bench tops and cabinetry. Local plumber Mick Keefe and electrician Mark White have worked on site, while Doug Whales and Nathan Taylor have installed the air conditioning and refrigeration. Denis Bartell and Stephanie Mitchell have completed the painting and handywork for the project.
The new bakery has seating for 60 people and will employ up to eight new staff, serving freshly-baked-on-site fare. A welcome return to district will be baker Phil White who will undertake all the baking duties with a trained offsider.
Training is important to the business and all employees have completed a six hour barista course on-site to make sure they can serve up a perfect coffee. A shiny San Marino coffee machine holds pride of place in the bakery and they will serve award winning ‘Art of Espresso’ coffee.
Trading from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 6.30pm on Saturdays and 8.00am to 6.30pm on Sundays, Boorowa’s Superb Bakery will be a great meeting and eating place for residents and visitors.
