League season ready for kick-off
3:47 PM | With weather warming up it’s hard to believe that the Junior Rugby league is already making plans for the 2012 season. The Country Rugby League are visiting both St Joseph’s and Boorowa Central School on Thursday, February 16 and the Bushrangers will be following this up with their sign-on day the following Saturday, February 18.
3:46 PM | Ben Davis made the long treck west to Leeton for the Speedo Sprint Heats last Sunday. The big day was a huge success for Ben as he swam in five events, bringing home three silver medals in 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke as well as a bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Looking for a gold rush in 2012
3:44 PM | With the 2012 Rugby season quickly approaching the Boorowa Goldies have once again pulled the runners out - some have even purchased new pairs - and taken to the Rec oval for some preseason conditioning. After three consecutive and successful years as coach, Bruce Nixon has stood down this year and the reins have been handed to Ben Johnson, who now has the job of getting the boys back together and match fit.
3:43 PM | The Boorowa Mens Bowling Club has proudly informed the South West District that it will field two teams in the 2012 pennants. With now over 30 members the Club will be graded in fours after winning the fives in 2011.
Middle order magic secures victory
3:39 PM | Batting depth for any cricket side is crucial, and it was no more evident than last Saturday when Boorowa recovered from an horrific batting collapse to secure a vital four wicket win over the Great Eastern Power. A previously run starved Cameron Johnston feasted on the bowling attack and along with a patient Brendan Shean combined for an unbeaten seventh wicket stand of 77 to get the locals home.
3:37 PM | DANIEL'S EXCELLENT RESULTS Boorowa Central School Captain for 2011, Daniel Anlezark, achieved excellent results in the recent HSC. His marks included a Band 6 in Ancient History, earning him a place on the Board of Studies Honour Role for the most highly achieving students in the state.
3:35 PM | The 24th annual Boorowa Flock Ewe Competition, proudly sponsored by the Boorowa Pastoral supplies will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012. A total of nine flocks of maiden ewes have been entered. Chief Steward of the event, Rick Power, said entries are down this year but he hopes they will increase next year for the 25-year-anniversary.
