On the back of a successful 2009 season, many aspects of Boorowa Rugby Union Clubs’ 2010 season are well and truly organised. Apart from the Clubs hope for back to back premierships, the club will also conduct an overseas tour in the pre-season to the South Island of the Shaky Isles, New Zealand.
“This is a great opportunity for the players and the club,” said the 2010 Coach Bruce Nixon. “It has been many years since the club has represented at an international level and the tour will be a great lead in to the season.”
In its 40 year history the Club has had a number of competitive sides tour to New Zealand and the exotic Hong Kong. The 2010 tourists should prove to be equally as strong with many of the 2009 side dusting off their passports and backing up.
Skipper Richard Manion is excited about the prospects of the tour. “The intricacies are yet to be ironed out but at this stage we will play two matches over the period of the first week in April,” said Manion in a recent phone interview amongst the lowing of cattle in the background. “We have a tour committee which has met now on a number of occasions and after our meeting this week we should be able give the players the finer details. We are really excited. This is a great opportunity for our club, particularly for our younger players.”
In other club news the clubs AGM will be held at the Ex-Services Club on Monday the 14th of December at 6.30pm.
All are welcome and hope to see you there.
