Goldies glad to help community

12 Aug, 2010 02:44 PM
It is not everyday you get a Goldies player knocking on your door and asking how he can help you with odd jobs around your house.

But Boorowa locals were treated to a day of free labour during the Boorowa Rugby Club Community Day held on Sunday August 1.

Goldies players visited seven homes in Boorowa to help out with general maintenance. They arrived ready for action and supplied with morning tea to share with residents.

The weather caused some delays, but the Goldies enjoyed the opportunity to share a cup of tea and trade yarns.

The Rugby Club would like to thank organisers, cooks, workers and everyone associated with Community Day.

The amazing support that the rugby club enjoys from the local community is very much appreciated and Community Day is a chance for the club to give something back to the district and supporters.

This weekend is the last competition round of rugby before the final series commences on Saturday, August 21.

To celebrate, the Rugby Club is holding an Island Night at the Top Pub this Saturday, August 14.

The night will commence at 6pm, and as the Top Pub has fantastic meals available, make sure you arrive in time to grab some dinner!

A fun night is planned with music, games, prizes and a special member’s draw. Remember, if you are a member, you must be present at the pub to win - and on Island Night, you must be in costume to claim the prize!

The best dressed player, best dressed male and best dressed female will receive prizes during the evening.

So get into your grass skirts, throw on a coconut bikini, and put a flower in your hair - it is Island Night! Come along and join the fun. See you there!
