Boorowa Goldie’s are now only a few wins from securing a certain place in the final series for the Monaro Rugby Competition. Following a solid win against Harden last weekend the Goldie’s have only four matches remaining before the final series, one of which is against ANU at home this weekend.
Harden have experienced some hot and cold form this season however this weekend proved to be slanted towards the later for the Red Devils. Boorowa totally dominated the match running in a dozen try’s leaving the opposition scoreless at full time. The final score was 74-0.
An interesting aspect of the game was that each of Boorowa’s try’s was scored by a member of the back line. The only scoring opportunities afforded to the real footballers of the team, the forwards, came through James Daley’s boot with four conversations.
Ben Patrick ran in four try’s, two each to Corey Randall and Ryan Kouvelis and one each to Richard Manion, Andy Hewitt, Damien Harton and Brendon Sheehan. Corey Randal also kicked three conversions.
Boorowa’s best were James Daley, Ryan Kouvelis and Ben Patrick with Jeremy McGrath taking out the players player award.
ANU will prove a hard task. In the two matches against them so far this season Boorowa have only just scraped home and will need to show much of the structured composed play that we have come to expect if they wish to take the points.
The club hangs much of its success on the fantastic support we continue to receive from the community. This is much appreciated and we would again like to invite you along this weekend to the Boorowa Showground to support your team. Kick off is 2.30pm.
