Braidwood defeats Rovers

05 Aug, 2010 08:18 AM
The Boorowa Rovers made the long journey to Braidwood on Saturday looking to topple the third placed Bears and keep their semi final hopes alive.

With a forfeit from West Belconnen last week and a bye in between wins their hopes of four straight wins with little game time was going to be a hard fight with windy conditions.

The game started fast and hard from one end of the field to the other.

Braidwood opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes and put on two more tries.

The Rovers struck back with eight minutes remaining with some great lead up work and big Benny Roberts busting through the line and a quick play of the ball seen.

Young gun Chris Mason came out from dummy half and beat four defenders to score beside the post. Andrew Swaffield converted and with the half-time score at 18-16 Boorowa looked to be able to bounce back.

But this was not to be. With Braidwood coming out and two quick tries on the Rovers started to struggle with injuries to Lee Millynn and Anthony Howell, Boorowa never gave up.

The Rovers only had a few chances going in but were unlucky the score blew out at the end with Braidwood taking the game 42-6.

Chris Mason was voted Player’s Player.

The week the Rovers play Boomanulla on Saturday 2.30 at Narrabundalt Oval.
