Yet another successful year

A tradition that Boorowa has held for the last 43 years, once again saw an influx of local and out of town students compete in the annual Touch Netball Carnival.

The Boorowa Showground was turned into a busy playing field with students from St Joseph’s School marking out a number of netball courts and touch playing fields to cater for the close to 3000 students from across NSW and the ACT.

The carnival, which was held last Friday saw 130 touch teams and 115 netball teams compete in the whole day event.

The aim of the day is to encourage participation of the students to enjoy the sports of touch and netball and is hoped to recruit players in their town’s local netball and touch football competitions.

To make fair competition each of the games were umpired by local high school students.

Organisers of the event commented on the overwhelming support given to the carnival by the local community.

The talent of the young players aged from seven to 12 years were checked out by special guests Chris Reynolds a Development Officer for NSW Touch Association, and Keryn Boundy from Netball NSW.

The winning teams of each pool were presented with certificates.
