In the final round of pennants and stableford competition at Cloverleigh on Sunday, Jugiong Golf Club increased their lead to win the Stableford Shield. Jugiong finished with 210 points, while Boorowa was runner-up with 128 points. Ladies stableford winner on the day was Kerry Coggin of Jugiong, with Jenny McDonnel of Cloverleigh runner-up.
Cloverleigh veteran Reg Frecklington was the men's stableford winner, while Jamie Darmody of Boorowa was runner-up. Scores were unavailable.
In pennants Boorowa defeated Binalong three matches to two, and Jugiong defeated Bigga four matches to one. As reported previously, Binalong won the sand green pennant, with Boorowa runner-up.
On Saturday Tim Good and Anthony Jones with 74 net 61 1/2, won Frank Ryan's trophy by a quarter of a shot from Richard Manning and Cliff Workman with 73 net 61 3/4.
Next Saturday and Sunday the Golf Club members will contest the club championships. The Golf Club committee has decided to play the golf championships over two days with 27 holes played each day, with hit off times from 9 am to 9.30 am. 'A' and 'B' grade handicaps trophies will be contested as well as the championship events.
The Boorowa Rovers, who are on a winning streak, have requested a golf day on their bye. The format and date will be advised later.
