THE last round of the Boorowa Ladies Golf Championship was played last week with the winner Wendy Tuckerman securing the crown for the third year in a row.
Wendy again played a sterling round of 78 to win by 19 shots over the three rounds with a total score of 240.
Monica Good picked up the runner-up trophy by just one shot with a score of 85 for the day and 259 for the championship.
Margaret Blomfield, the leader in round one followed Monica with an 87 for the round and a 260 score for the championship.
Kate Crisp completed the championship with a 266 and Jill Adams 271.
At the presentation Wendy thanked her fellow golfers, especially Margaret for giving her a shake up in the first round and stated it is a great honour to be crowned champion.
The B Grade championship was hotly contested, with the ladies starting the day with only a couple of points.
The very experienced Kay Fahey kept her cool with a great score of 93 for the day and a 286 for the championship closely followed by Rosemary Corcoran with a total of 288.
President, Helen Aldersey started the day in front but the new purple sticks could not get her home with a score to beat Kay, she finished on 291 for the championship.
The mover and shaker of the round was Helen Picker, who romped it home with a 294 for the round.
After an unusual untidy second round she was on a mission and accomplished it in style with a great last round.
In what has been a great year for Del Greig, she struggled to reproduce the form in the championship and finished with 307.
A disappointing last round by the ever consistent Pat Croker, who was seen in places she doesn’t usually frequent, more than once, saw her diminish any chance of securing the B-grade title with a score of 316.
Lyn Thomas followed closely with a 318 and Bev Good on 326.
The C Grade championship crown went to Robyn Boulding who finished with a magnificent score that saw her break her handicap by some 5 shots.
Robyn also took home the club trophy with a net of 55.
Runner-up for C Grade was the evergreen putting machine Mona Dwyer.
As the sun sets on another championship we all look forward to competing again next year.
A reminder that the Annual General Meeting will be held next week on Wednesday September 24 at 3.30pm at the Recreation Club.
The T.Merriman/R.Corcoran Trophy will be played beforehand with Tina and Rosemary on cards.
