Residents encouraged to tee off for a good cause

20 Jan, 2012 10:46 AM
The Emergency Services Golf Day in Young was big last year - with 120 competitor spots selling very fast - but in 2012 add a $10,000 cash splash prize to the event and there’s no telling what could happen. But no matter who wins what, the event is for a good cause.

Residents of Boorowa are encouraged to join in the event, set down for Friday, March 30 at the Young Golf Club.

The annual fundraiser will support the Young and District Education Foundation and the family of Willem Corkery.

The day is traditionally organised by members of the local emergency services who play alongside local golfers - professional and amateur - all keen to tee off for a good cause.

To net the $10,000, all you need to do is hit a hole in one on a nominated hole, which players will be told about on the day.

Organisers are accepting sponsorship from local business houses - by sponsoring a hole on the course or by offering a prize for the day.

If you can help out with sponsorship or by donating a prize send your details to Nathan or Aaron at nmcevoy@ambulance.nsw.gov.au or amoloney@ambulance.nsw.gov.au

It is $60 per person to play. To register contact Phil Cartwright at the Pro Shop on 6382 1543.
