26 Mar, 2009 06:12 AM
The Touch Grand Finals were held on Thursday, March 19 and the Boorowa Touch Football Association held its presentation night on Saturday, March 21 at the Boorowa Ex-Services Club.

A Grade Champions this year were the Top Pub team who defeated the Ram and Stallion team, 5 touchdowns to 3, in a very fast and entertaining game.

Samantha Pye was voted Player of the game.

The B Grade game saw Boorowa Tyre Service victorious over Renegades of Funk, 7 touchdowns to 4, with Murray Dymock voted as Player of the Grand Final.

The C Grade match was a draw at full time so the game went into extra time with a golden point eventually deciding the result, Hot N Spicy winning 5 touchdowns to 4 over Fed X, Joseph Banks was voted player of the match.

All of the games were very competitive and the players should be congratulated for the fine sporting spirit displayed.

Other major awards announced on the night included Best and Fairest Male Player which was won jointly by Shane Cross and Chris Mason.

Tania Scarlett won the Best and Fairest Female player.

The Best and Fairest Junior Players were awarded to Brendan Dunn and Megan Cusack.

Brian Dwyer took the award for highest number of touchdowns in the male division and the female division was shared between Kate and Lucy Poplin.

The Club Person of the Year was awarded to Rob Lawson for his great support shown to the Association throughout the year.

This year the players and committee decided that they would forgo the usual meal and prizes and use the money saved to donate to the victims of the recent Victorian Bushfires, additional money was raised on the night from a raffle and door prizes.

The Association would like to thank the Boorowa Business houses who generously donated prizes for the fundraiser and all the players and their families who supported the night.

Over $1100 was raised on the night and this will be donated to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

Once again it was another successful year for touch football in Boorowa
