Well folks, what a week in sport! Dave Warner has certainly confirmed his position as the new pin-up boy of Australian cricket with one of the best knocks you are ever likely to see last Friday. Like Adam Gilchrist before him Warner has the ability to take a test match away from the opposition in a session, the big advantage with Warner is that he can do it right from the get -go. After an hour of Warner’s batting on day two of the Perth test the Indians were buried, completely demoralised, and I doubt they’ll recover!
.....................< p>For all the talk about Australia’s two aging batsmen (Ponting and Hussey), India have four! The aging Indians have been exposed terribly on this tour and changes will have to be made. While Dravid is no longer the ‘wall’, (more like the ‘gate’) we shouldn’t forget how lucky we are to be seeing batsmen of the quality of Tendulkar and Ponting in action, two of the finest in history, for possibly the last time.

Bernard Tomic may no longer be in action by the time this goes to print, but his performance in the opening round of the Aussie Open has certainly signalled a massive future for this young man, what a comeback!! Lleyton Hewitt can pass the baton with confidence as young Tomic now IS Australian male tennis.

So the Sonny Bill Williams circus continues! What is it with these blokes and boxing? His first opponent for his next fight is in jail and his replacement is a 32 year-old weighing in at 120kgs!
SBW has certainly followed in the ‘Mans” footsteps when it comes to boxing!
Last week I spoke of aging sportsmen and the legacy they wanted to leave, well Sonny is not getting any younger and the sooner he puts away the boxing gloves and straps on the footy boots for the Roosters and gets down to business the better! Two or three big years in the NRL and he may be remembered for what he should be, one of the best footballers of a generation.

H ow good is the T20 Big Bash? The Gnome has been loving it (although Mrs Gnome is not quite so thrilled!).
Of course now that it has been such a success Channel 9 want to get their hands on it. Fox has done a great job covering it and if Super Rugby can exist exclusively on pay-TV I don’t see why the Big Bash can’t. I would like to see it probably condensed into a month and hopefully see the test players involved a little more, other than that it has been great.

The highlight for me has been the three 40-something spin bowlers taking part. Who would have thought that, finally, Brad Hogg and Stuart MacGill can lay fairly serious claim to outperforming Shane Warne! Great stuff!

It was handbags at twenty paces in the A-League on Saturday night with Brisbane and Sydney getting out of control. So much for the well-used line that mummies don’t want their children to play the Rugby codes because they are too violent!
What was the go with one player ripping his shirt off? Not a good look. See you next week.
