Boorowa Central School State Champions

06 Dec, 2007 05:40 AM
Boorowa Central Schools open cricket team travelled to Coonabarabran last Tuesday to compete in the final series that would determine the state champions.

After travelling to Coonabarabran on Tuesday, the team was greeted on Wednesday by a magnificently prepared wicket and oval on which they would do battle with Guyra to determine who would play Coolah for the final on the Thursday. Boorowa’s captain Brendon Shean won the toss and elected to field first in the relatively cool conditions. This paid off with the bowlers being able to bowl 6 0ver spells before being rested. Boorowa’s opening bowling pair of Sam Lynam-Carmody and Christopher Dwyer claiming 5 wickets between them in their opening spell to see Guyra shell shocked at 5 for 30. Guyra was hoping for some relief when Dwyer was replaced by Nathan Friend but their hopes were shattered when two fine catches were held to remove two wickets in his first over. More of the same was delivered when Chris Turner relieved Lynam-Carmody and the wickets continued to fall to see Guyra all out for 57.
