The annual Touch/Netball Carnival was held at the Boorowa Showground on October 30 in ideal conditions, with the grounds looking the best yet and the weather being perfect.
Earlier in the week the students, parents and staff from Boorowa Central and St Joseph’s marked the netball courts and touch fields.
There were 22 netball courts and 23 touch fields operating from 9am to 3.20pm.
A record number of teams participated with a total of 307 teams, 151 touch teams and 156 netball teams coming from 44 schools from across the region and the ACT.
The population of Boorowa was quadrupled for the day, stretching the resources of the small community, however many tired and happy children left saying thank you and that they will be back next year along with staff and parents from the respective schools.
The aim of the day is to encourage participation with the children enjoying playing sport.
We are very grateful to Chris Reynolds and Bill McMahon from Touch NSW for all their assistance and to Keryn Boundy from Netball NSW.
The day is not possible without the secondary students from Boorowa Central School and Hennessy Catholic College in Young
The carnival committee is very grateful to the Boorowa Council and the Boorowa Community.
