Team of the Year

05 Feb, 2009 06:19 AM
This young team of cricketers has been awarded Team of the Year in the Australia Day Celebrations in Boorowa last week.

The boys coached by Pat Dwyer are the Minor Premiers and Grand Final winners of the Secondary (Years 7-10) Division Young Junior Cricket Competition 2007/08 season.

This team has some history with the Boorowa Secondary Cricket Team being re-established in the 2004/05 season after almost a decade of insufficient numbers and interest to field a team.

After taking more than a season to win a game, the team gradually grew in competitiveness as the team members and their competition changed by the year to the point where they were “the team to beat” in 2007/08.

To win the prized Secondary Premiership was a major boost to the Boorowa Junior Cricket team who had not won the title for at least 15 years if, in fact, ever.

In both the final and grand final the team had to “dig deep” having only scored slightly over 100 runs while batting first and then having to bowl their opposition out for less.

Congratulations team on your achievement.
