Rugby wins the Woodford Shield

09 Apr, 2010 08:19 AM
The annual Rugby versus Narrawa Cricket Day was held on Easter Saturday at the Rugby Recreation Park.

It was the ninth year it has been held with the Woodford Shield being equally won four times by Narrawa and four times by Rugby until this year with Rugby again winning the shield with a score of 162 to 129.

The players were Bay Kelly, John Webster, Robert Chudleigh, Ricky Mitchell, Jim Hamilton, Chris Braid, Sandy Campbell, Will Schmidt, Andrew Kelly (Captain), Sam Hamilton and Barry Gay.

The Man of the Match went to Rob Chudleigh.

The Captain of the Narrawa team was Alex Wheelwright

There were many spectators who enjoyed the beautiful autumn day and all commented on how wonderful the grounds looked with the new fence surrounding it, thanks to the grant given to us by The Bendigo Bank through the Boorowa Community Bank.

Trees have been planted in front and behind the Rugby Memorial Gates and the new picket fence is now in place in readiness for our annual Anzac Dawn Service.

The winning Rugby side who know lead the tally five wins to four over Narrawa.
