Batting depth for any cricket side is crucial, and it was no more evident than last Saturday when Boorowa recovered from an horrific batting collapse to secure a vital four wicket win over the Great Eastern Power.

A previously run starved Cameron Johnston feasted on the bowling attack and along with a patient Brendan Shean combined for an unbeaten seventh wicket stand of 77 to get the locals home.
After last Friday nights T20 final had to be postponed due to a water logged field, the locals focused all their attention on the vital match on Saturday.
Boorowa won the toss and sent the visitors in hoping to exploit the moist conditions.
Their decision was vindicated as they soon had the visitors in trouble at 4/20 in eight overs.
They recovered to reach 4/76 at drinks but whatever the Boorowa Boys had in their orange juice had the desired effect as they clean up the tail t o route the Power for 113.
Best of the Boorowa bowlers was Sean Dwyer wit h 3/20 and Russell George with 3/41. Chris Dwyer, Nick Dwyer, Josh Carmody and Justin Corkery all chipped in with one each. The fielding was again solid with all chances being taken.
Defending a low score, the Power rallied and their opening bowlers destroyed the Boorowa top order to have the home side reeling at 5/14.
Worse was to follow when skipper Chris Dwyer became the six the player to be bowled in the innings and at 6/32 it was looking very ominous for the locals.
It was then the Johnston show, as he delivered a crucial knock of 49 not out including four big sixes.
Brendan Shean at the other end played a knock just as important for an unbeaten 29 and the side got home with more than ten over’s to spare.
Chris Dwyer also chipped in with a useful 20.
A new set of stumps is required for next week and maybe some work on defensive techniques for the top order in the nets before Friday night’s big game.
This weekend it another massive one for Boorowa, as they are rescheduled to play the T20 final against the Royals on Friday night, starting at 8 PM.
One thing last Saturday gave Boorowa was a lot of faith that the lower order batting can get the job done if required.
On Saturday they head back to Alfred Oval for another crucial game against the defending first grade Premiers, The Young Ones.
The Young Ones, like most teams have been hit and miss but they are coming off a victory.
As their name suggests, they are a young team, but they are chocked full of talented players.
The squad for this weekend is Chris Dwyer, Phil Coggins, Rick Bennett, Simon Pye, Sam Lynam, Sean Dwyer, Justin Corkery, Russell George, Tom Magee, Josh Carmody,Cameron Johnston, Nick Dwyer, Brendan Shean.
Hopefully come Saturday night, the T20 cup will be back at the Courthouse along with another Saturday scalp. See you there.
