Gold Diggers dominate

06 Nov, 2008 06:17 AM
Boorowa Ex-Services Gold Diggers dominated in Young on Saturday afternoon, out-bowling and overrunning the Aussie Burrangong Cubs in spectacular fashion.

The Diggers lost the toss and the Cubs chose to bat first.

In a strong attacking performance, the Ex-Services Diggers had the Cubs all out for 10/81 from 19 overs.

Jeremy Hewitt took 3/13 from just three overs while Russell George took 3/14 from 5 overs. Tom Magee and Brian Dwyer took two wickets each.

Matt Sell top scored for Aussie Cubs with 40 not out.

Stuart Blomfield and Tony Croker took to the crease for the Diggers, Blomfield returning to the shade, bowled out by Chris Hambrook for one.

Brian Dwyer joined Croker and they proceeded to develop a strong partnership, with an excellent display of thoughtful batting, punishing any loose balls from the Cubs attack.

Dwyer was eventually bowled out on 37 by Matthew Sell and a count back of extras showed the Diggers had passed their target, leaving Croker on 37 not out and the Diggers with the victory.
