Close counter for Central School

20 Nov, 2008 06:18 AM
Boorowa Central School Cricket Team played well on Thursday when they took on Colleambally in the final round of the southern NSW knockout. This game was to decide who would represent at state finals.

Boorowa won the toss and elected to batt first. Josh Carmody and Brendon Dunn opened the batting and worked through 6 overs before Dunn was bowled for 1, Mark Poplin promoted after his display at Ariah Park joined Carmody but was bowled out by an excellent delivery for 0.

Murray Armour joined Carmody and batted well to score 11 before also being bowled. Pat Beadman scored 1 before also being bowled. 4 for 42. Nick Dwyer proved he is human by finally getting out, first time in this series unfortunately for 0.

Cameron Johnston joined Carmody and batted excellently to get the total moving before Carmody fell another very solid 21 runs. Kurt Barton went out and scored a very quick 9 before being caught, Chris Mason was removed without scoring when he also was bowled. Dylan Poplin went down swinging after waiting three games for a bat and was unlucky to be caught out for 0, Will McGuiness was not out when Cameron Johnston in a great moment of sportsmanship walked after being caught behind for an excellent 29 runs, your sportsmanship was highly commented on by all.

Boorowa all out for 91.

Boorowa knew Colleambally would be tough to hold to 91, but they worked tirelessly in the field to make them earn all their runs.

Cameron Johnston and Nick Dwyer opened the bowling and had to work hard before Dwyer struck to remove Casey for 2, leaving Colle 1 for 45.

Josh Carmody was next to strike removing 2 wicket in quick time to see the total at 3 for 80 Johnston removed the next wicket 4 for 86.

Carmody combined with Armour to remove the damaging Burge for 64 when he was stumped after an excellent delivery 5 for 86 Carmody again struck to see Colle nervous at 6 for 88 with no recognised batters left, but they managed to score a few lucky runs to scrape home after a nervous over or two.

Carmody 4 overs 4 for 20, Dwyer 4 overs 1 for 12, C. Johnston 4 overs 1 for 42 and M. Johnston 4 overs 0 for 18.

This team will be unchanged next year and will be a much stronger team after this years experience, with so many young players developing every game the future of cricket at Boorowa Central School is very bright.

This team has been an absolute pleasure to coach and has made my job an easy one all year, thankyou boys for an excellent team effort and an enjoyable experience.

Looking forward to next year.

Proud Coach Stewart Blomfield
