In celebration of Volunteer Week, many organizations took the opportunity to say thank you to the volunteers that work for them.
One organization was Family Chain who took three of its volunteers out to lunch in Boorowa as sign of appreciation.
Family Chain is a Volunteer Home Visiting Service funded by Families NSW.
Volunteers are trained by the coordinator of the service and then matched to these families to provide support in various ways such as practical or emotional support, parenting guidance or community information.
Ongoing support is provided to both families and volunteers.
Volunteers receive regular newsletters and attend monthly support meetings.
Volunteers are always needed for this service so if you have a spare hour or two a week please give some thought to Family Chain.
Families with babies and young children can access this free service in the Young, Harden and Boorowa Shires by contacting us directly or they can be referred by another service.
If you are a family with a child aged 3 years or younger and could do with an extra pair of hands when at home, shopping, attending playgroup or appointments or you would just like someone to have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat with, give Family Chain a call.
If you would like more information please call Jenny Spring at the Young Neighborhood Centre on 63826697
