The VET subjects of Construction and Metals and Engineering will be delivered in the Centre and it is hoped that the Centre will be up and running for the first term in 2010.

This will enable the students with quality learning areas that have tools and equipment that will be to industry standard and are at the cutting edge of technology.

Students and Teachers will benefit from working in the best facility in the region and with the support of TAFE, CIT and the Master Builders Association will have the opportunity to gain Certificate III qualifications.

The students will also benefit from the partnerships and industry contacts that have been established with employers in the local region and in larger centres such as Canberra.

The school went through a gruelling application process, which was undertaken by teacher Robert Lawson, that has been scrutinised at three levels, Regional, State and Federal.

The Illawarra South East Regional Committee highly recommended the school’s application, as did State, with the Federal Committee approving the application.

The application process commenced in May 2008 with the lodging of an expression of interest and after many long hours of work, meetings and letter writing, the final submission was lodged in November 2008.

Boorowa Central School would like to thank everyone who has given their support to this project, because if it was not for the overwhelming support of Council, Community Service Groups and local business houses it may not have been successful.

Teachers are looking forward to using the new facility and equipment as the Trade Training Centre will have a 'connected classroom' that will enable students to connect with other learning centres via the internet.

Other equipment will include CNC milling machines, metal lathes, welders, metal cutting and folding equipment and wood working tools such as bandsaws, laser levelling devices, air tools, fixed and portable compressors and generators.
