Students excel at St Joseph's

Students at St Joseph’s Primary school excelled academically, also in Music, Public Speaking and Sports in 2011.

Congratulations to all children who won awards on the presentation night along with those who tried their best throughout the year.

St Joseph’s Presentation evening which was held on December 14 2011 the results are as follows:

Christian Values Award:

They are presented to students who have demonstrated qualities which reflect Christian living. These awards are sponsored by the Friends of St Joseph’s Community Council and the recipients are:

Kindergarten Jorja O’Brien.

Year 1 Daniel Howard.

Year 2 Marty McGrath.

Year 3 Taylor Wythes.

Year 4 Adam Hinds.

Year 5 Jamie-Lea Stephenson.

Year 6 Tenille O’Neill.

Encouragement Awards:

This type of award is given to inspire students in their forthcoming studies and to congratulate them on all their hard effort throughout the year.

The recipients are: Angus Piper, Nick Jenkins, Connor Corcoran, Maddison Tesoriero, Savannah Wythes.

Creative Arts Awards

2/3- Will Wales.

4/5- Ilka Halgryn.

6- Wil Stanley.

The recipient of the School Community Council Award is Kasey Watt.

Most Improved

Year 2 Mitchell Cassells.

Year 3 Samuel Forkin.

Year 4 Alice Kelly.

Year 5 Toby McGrath.

Year 6 Jessica Croker.

Music Awards

Each year Margaret and Peter from the Young school of music teach students music. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and we thank Peter and Margaret for the travel and time they put in each week supporting the students of St. Joseph‘s. The music encouragement and achievement awards:

Sam Corkhill, Sam Walsh, Persia Notarberardino.

Hennessy, Faith, Learning and Enterprise Award.

The recipient is Tom Hurley.

Chess Awards

GirlsChampion and runner up: Sarah Walsh and Kasey Watt.

Boys Champion and runner up: Matthew Canellis and Ben Davis.

Overall school Champion:

The recipients are Year 1 Daniel Howard.

Year 2 Dugald Mullen.

Year 3 Grace Corkhill.

Year 4 Sophie Canellis.

Year 5 Sarah Walsh.

Year 6 Ben Davis.

Radio STJ Awards

These students have worked hard all year giving up their lunchtimes to create and write reports and competitions on Radio STJ.

They are Sarah Walsh and Claire Kelly.

Academic Award are for students who have excelled in all their academic work this year. This award is sponsored by IGA.

The recipients are:

Year 1 Cooper Cross.

Year 2 Rylee O’Brien.

Year 3 Tom Merriman.

Year 4 Charlie Webb.

Year 5 Claire Kelly.

Sports Boy was awarded to Tom Jenkins.

Sports Girl was awarded to both Grace Corkhill and Alice Kelly.

Outstanding achievement award was presented to Lily Corkhill who has achieved outstanding performances across all curricula and extra curricula activities throughout the year.

Lily as been an exceptional student in all areas. She has represented the school in Public speaking and made the finals of the Canberra Rostrum Public speaking competition. Lily was a member of the school athletic, swimming team representing the school at the Western region carnivals.

Lily was also the school Senior swimming Champion, the runner-up for Senior athletic champion and were a valuable member of the Girls 5/6 cricket team who competed in the Western Region Finals in Orange. This award was kindly donated by Kelly O’Brien.

Citizenship Award was awarded to Jack Hinds.

Persia Notrobeardino was awarded Dux of St Joseph’s for 2011 which is donated by Ron and Meg Merriman.
