Around 400 people attended Saturday night’s third annual Ben Corkhill charity fundraiser Music Muster at the Boorowa Showground in what organisers are calling a huge success.
People from as far as Sydney, Wauchope and Coonamble made the trip to Boorowa to honour the memory of well-known local Ben Corkhill – who died after a long battle with leukaemia.
Attendees showed their generosity and helped raise over $10,000 for the Starlight Foundation’s Make a Wish program.
The highlight of the show was the fabulous fireworks display by pyrotechnics wizard, Rod McInnes.
The large crowd was delighted by the spectacular show, which set the tempo for the remainder of the night’s entertainment. Another highlight of the night was the music which had the crowd on their feet and dancing all night.
The music was a mix of something for everyone, with Wollongong’s Reunion playing some fantastic instrumentals and vocals that took everyone back to the early days of Rock n Roll.
Sydney’s rock and blues band Retox were again in attendance, along with soloist Dan Favelle from Wollongong.
Local band The Suits turned it on for the crowd and their mandatory rendition of ‘Sweet Child of Mine’ had the crowd getting involved in what was an enjoyable live act.
Community support for the event was again very high and organisers wish to thank everyone for their generous contributions and donations.
Major sponsors for the event were the Boorowa Council, Rod McInnes, Corkhill’s Engineering, Discount Work Wear Young, M&Ms Music Studio Young, the Boorowa Hotel and Brumbies Rugby.
Anybody still wishing to make a donation toward the event can do so at Bendigo Bank, Boorowa.
