Mayor and Deputy Mayor retain positions

02 Oct, 2008 11:49 AM
BOOROWA Shire Council met for their first ordinary council meeting on Monday afternoon.

An audience of about 20 locals gathered to hear as the mayor and deputy mayor positions were voted on.

Wendy Tuckerman was re-elected to the role of mayor unopposed, while Elisabeth Webster comfortably held out newcomer David Evans to retain the role of deputy mayor, with seven votes recorded for Cr Webster and two for Cr Evans.

Cr Tuckerman thanked her fellow councillors for their support, saying she is looking forward to the opportunity to continue to chair Council meetings and lead Council and the community.

It was determined through the course of the meeting that council meeting would in future be held on the fourth Monday of the month at 4pm, later than the 2pm, which meetings have been held at in the past.
