As fees at some independent schools increase by up to 25 per cent in 2006, record numbers of families are turning to School Plan Management (a subsidiary of the Australian Scholarships Group) in order to help them manage their mounting school fee payments.
Parents of a child born in 2006 can now expect to pay a minimum of around a quarter of a million dollars for their child's lifetime education and more than $400,000 if they choose independent schooling options for their children.
School Plan expects to assist thousands of families nationally with fees totaling more than $18 million in 2006 - a 20 per cent jump from 2005. From 1996 - 2006, the average fee amount funded per student each year has increased by a staggering 68 per cent.
