The annual Touch/Netball Carnival was held at the Boorowa Showground on October 30 in ideal conditions, with the grounds looking the best yet and the weather being perfect.
Earlier in the week we had the students, parents and staff from Boorowa Central and St Joseph’s marking the Netball Courts and Touch Fields. There were 22 Netball Courts and 23 Touch Fields operating from 9.00am to 3.20pm.
A record number of teams participated with a total of 307 teams, 151 Touch teams and 156 Netball teams coming from 44 schools from across the region and the ACT. The population of Boorowa was quadrupled for the day, stretching the resources of our small community.
However many tired and happy children left saying thank you and that they will be back next year along with staff and parents from the respective schools.
The aim of the day is to encourage participation with the children enjoying playing sport and to raise much needed funds for both schools.
This year the committee was very pleased to be able to hand a cheque for $8500 to each school.
Both school communities are very grateful for the wonderful help received from the Boorowa Council and the Boorowa Community, the day is not possible without so many unsung heroes.
