A truly remarkable woman has been named as Boorowa’s Citizen of the Year and as Julie Simmonds came up to the rotunda to collect her award, still speechless and stunned, we all learned a bit more about her.
Julie Simmonds has served the community of Boorowa for many years, and has shown with her professional role with the Department of Health and her hours of service, commitment, caring and nurturing to Boorowa’s many sick, frail, incapacitated and elderly that she is a truly remarkable person.
Nothing is too much trouble for this lady and be it picking up shopping, or hanging out the washing she will make sure it is done.
Julie Simmonds has participated in “Woolfest” promotions with her “famous sheep’ float and her love of animals is shown with her own menagerie as well as her being known for taking in the pets of ill patients.
Julie is loved and adored by her patients, respected and admired by her colleagues and we all should try to be a bit more like her in the future.
We appreciate all she does in the community, both publicly and behind the scenes and would like to congratulate her on being this years Citizen of the Year.
Boorowa is lucky to have you.
