In what has been a great show of strength, four local sheep studs from the Boorowa district have been awarded four Supreme Awards at the 2009 Royal Canberra Show held last weekend.
The winners were as follows:-
The Supreme Medium Wool Exhibit was won by the Tara Park Merino Stud.
The Supreme Fine Wool Exhibit was won by the Grassy Creek Merino Stud.
The Supreme Superfine Wool Exhibit was also won by the Grassy Creek Merino Stud.
The Supreme British Breed Exhibit (Short Wool) was won by the Springwaters Poll Dorset Stud.
Boorowa’s reputation as home to some of the best sheep studs in the country means that it is not unusual for the local studs to win Supreme Awards in the Merino Section.
However, to take out both the merino and meat sheep awards in a top line up of about 600 entries is a very noteworthy achievement.
All the winning sheep will be on display this weekend at the Boorowa Show.
Congratulations to all the Studs involved.
