In last week’s Australia Day celebrations we had a couple of local businesses awarded for their Business Initiative and Growth and these were Corkhills Engineering and Stonehaven Furniture.
Both of these businessmen are to be congratulated on their achievement.
Corkhills Engineering began nearly twenty years ago out on the property before moving into Marsden Street, Boorowa where it was for almost seventeen years since 1992 and then in early 2008 it moved out to the Industrial Estate in Boorowa where it can be found now.
Corkhills Engineering used to have a staff of six plus one casual and now the staff has increaded to ten plus one casual.
Corkhills has a full mechanical engineering section; they work with small engines and associated repairs and have full hydraulic systems.
Corkhills are also well known for making the Enforcer Rugby Scrum machines.
Stonehaven Furniture
Stonehaven Furniture Company was established in 1990 by well-known local craftsman Martin Corkhill and as the reputation of the business grew so did the need for more staff and larger premises and so in 1996 they moved into the old railway grain shed.
Adam Dwyer was one of Martin’s apprentices and after spending a couple of years in Wagga Wagga, NSW he then returned to Stonehaven Furniture and over the ensuing years took over the business with the aim of continuing the respected tradition of high quality furniture.
Stonehaven Furniture not only make the most wonderful furniture but also have building supplies for the local tradesmen, local handymen and home renovators.
