Big band fundraiser

15 Oct, 2007 10:52 AM

On Sunday 28th October, the Boorowa Education Foundation is presenting a musical fundraiser at the Ex-Services Club. From 4pm to 6pm, you can be entertained by fabulous ‘swing’ era music with the Blamey Street Big Band.

The Blamey Street Big Band was formed in 2002, and is based in Canberra.

BSBB are a 20 piece ensemble that plays music in the tradition of the big swing bands, including songs by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, as well as numbers by more modern composers. Instrumental and vocal works are performed.

The band is composed of experienced musicians from the Canberra region who share a love of swing band music. Tony Haley will be adding his own smooth blend of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin tunes to the band for the Boorowa gig, and Ian McLean brings his wealth of experience as Musical Director.

Blamey St has performed at regional jazz festivals, for the South Coast Music Society, and at a large range of both public and private functions in Canberra.

Tickets for this great afternoon of entertainment are $15 adults, $2.50per child, $10 seniors, and can be purchased at the Arts and Crafts Co-op, Australia Post, or Boorowa Central School. More information is available by calling 0427937459.
