Rye Park Public School students, staff and parents were delighted to hear last week that they have successfully received a $250 000 grant from the government to upgrade facilities of the school.
The grant is part of the ‘Building the Education Revolution’ package announced by the Federal government.
The building work will be done this year and project managers, electricians and architects have already visited the school and discussed the project with the principal Michelle Fahey.
“It is a very exciting time at the school and the regular school budget and hardworking P & C could never have injected that sort of funding into the school” said Mrs Fahey.
“The new extensions and classroom alterations will be wonderful for the school.
The school has had a problem with lack of space for a long time.
This funding will be used to replace a connecting wall in the classrooms into a bi-fold door that can be opened to make a large room” Mrs Fahey said.
The administration and staff facilities will also get an upgrade to build an office area and kitchen staff room.
Students will be able to cook in the newly designed kitchen.
The project is infusing much needed resources into our school and hopefully into our community as local builders, electricians and other tradesman are employed to complete the project.
Our school community is delighted with the amount of funding and the flexible way it can be used to support our unique, hardworking school.
